Mathieu has over 17 years of professional experience in the Luxembourg asset management, banking and financial services industry.
Over the years, Mathieu has advised multiple fund initiators with the design, regulatory approval, distribution, restructuring and voluntary liquidation of the full range of Luxembourg regulated and unregulated alternative investment funds including SIFs, RAIFs, SICARs, Part II funds, as well as club deals and private funds, investing in all major alternative asset classes (RE, PE/VC, Infrastructure, (renewable) energy, (distressed) debt, hedge, SRE and fund of funds).
Mathieu advises his clients on all aspects of local and cross-border real estate and private equity transactions. He has substantial experience of leading complex cross-border due diligence investigations, drafting and negotiating transaction and finance documents, and implementing security packages.
He was chiefly involved in the set-up and regulatory approval of regulated management companies and AIFMs, investment firms and other financial sector professionals. He also regularly advises banks and investment firms on the foreseeable impacts of major regulatory changes (AIFMD, MiFID II/MiFIR, AML V, etc.) on their product/service range, marketing and distribution strategy, as well as their operating model.
Before launching Volckrick & Associates in 2018, Mathieu was trained at a Magic Circle Firm for almost 6 years, worked as a fund manager for a Luxembourg PERE fund for 2 years and has been a partner at a Big-4 firm, heading their Financial Services Regulatory team for 7 years.
